Hiking Dog Mountain
This past weekend we headed up to Stevenson, Washington to hike Dog Mountain. We could not have asked for a better day to hike 3.8 miles to the 2,800 foot high summit. Although we missed seeing all of the beautiful spring flowers blooming on the mountainside, the views of the Gorge, Mount Hood, and Mount St. Helens were breathtaking! The hike down was a bit longer as we opted to take the Augspurger Trail which is a little less steep, making it easier on the knees during the decent. Overall, the 7+ mile hike was one of the best I have been on to date!
Up Next…
Saturday, July 16th we will be hiking the Clackamas River Trail to Pup Creek Falls. This is a 7.8 mile hike outside of Estacada that follows the Clackamas River to a waterfall that is said to rival those in the gorge.
Join the AEF Hikers Facebook page to stay up-to-date on all of the details for each hike. You will also find each hike as an event on the page so you can RSVP and get notifications on where we are meeting, what time we are heading out, and what carpool options are available.
I am looking forward to seeing many of you on the 16th!
Have a safe and healthy 4th of July!
