25 Things I am Thankful for – Fitness Edition #15 Deadlift
The deadlift is by far one of my favorite exercise. In a world where we sit for long periods of time, hunch over, and focus more on flexion (of the hip), the deadlift allows us to extend the hip and focus on the posterior portion of our body. Typically done with a barbell (not pictured), the deadlift creates extension at the hip. It requires the glutes and the hamstrings to fire, and the core to be strong and stabilize. It is an essential exercise in any strength training routine. The deadlift helps improve posture and decreases back pain (as long as it is done correctly :)). Learning how to do it correctly is critical. If you do not know how to do it, please make sure you learn proper form from a trained professional before adding it to your current routine.
