My Grid foam roller is one of my best friends. We have a love/hate relationship, most of the time. Foam rolling is a form of self myofascial release (SMR). Basically, it’s like self massage. The foam roller is just one tool that can be used for SMR. There are many types of foam rollers on the market, and I have tried a number of them. I purchased my Grid, made by Trigger Point, back in May. I like the “Distrodensity Zones” which simulate the pressure of a thumb, a fingertip, or a forearm, depending on which zone you are in. I foam roll before and/or after a workout, while watching TV, or while I am waiting for a client at work. This is a great article about foam rolling and why it is beneficial.
