25 Things I am Thankful for – Fitness Edition #8 Cat/Cow Stretch
Cat/Cow is definitely my favorite stretch! Done correctly, cat/cow helps the spine move though and maintain its’ natural curvature. The spine has four curves, the cervical, the thoracic, the lumbar, and the sacral ( pictured below).
Performing cat/cow helps maintain and improve proper posture and alignment of the spine, it stretches the abdomen, hips, back, shoulders, neck and chest, and it improves blood flow throughout the body. The best part about cat/cow…it feels amazing! It is a great active stretch that can be done both prior to and following a workout!
