Portland Electric Run!
I had a great time this past weekend running in the Portland Electric Run with a good friend of mine! It is always fun to run in themed races where your race time is not the most important thing. It is great to see all those people who typically would not “run” in a race come out and just have fun enjoying the event and getting some activity in. Seeing all of the crazy outfits people put together is very entertaining. There were a few runners dressed as the “Green Man Group” and others who had a battery pack on their arm with neon lighted wire wrapped around their body. The course had quite a few fun things to look at and run through, and of course, great music! It was my first race of the summer and I am pumped for the others I have lined up!
Speaking of other races, this coming Sunday, I am participating in the Girlfriends and Dudes Triathlon, Duathlon, and Kids Tri. It will be my first time participating in a duathlon, which is a 2 mile run, 12.5 mile bike ride, and a 3 mile run. I will post next week and let you know how it went! I also have a group of female clients who will be joining me in the Kiss Me Dirty Run in September. If you missed the Electric Run and like the idea of running at night under the neon lights, the Neon Glow Run will be going on in Downtown Portland on August 17th. A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the Beaverton Pal Youth Center. Looks like another great nighttime run!
If you are not signed up for a race yet this year, I strongly encourage you to sign up for one this summer/fall! Get a group of friends together or just grab your significant other and get out, be active, and have fun! Not all races are meant to be competitive. You do not have to be an “athlete” to participate. Many races are designed more around the entertainment than the race itself. You can walk the courses and enjoy the people and festivities! Challenge yourself and try something new!
